The ends are a little "grabby" in holes, so I felt safer with a higher volume boat. On my first WW trip, I paddled the Nantahala with this boat and had no problems, but after a couple times down, I decided to paddle a CFS on the Ocoee. Definitely faster than the shorter "aerial" boats, and also easier to paddle out through the breakers. The Medieval had no problems out there, as for me, I was eventually wore/stretched out from the beatings, and luckily I never had to swim in those waves! This year we also had some nice size waves (6'+), but I have the most fun in the 3'-5' range with this boat. In 2003, we had three hurricanes fly by us in the Atlantic, and all three produced HUGE waves (10'+ on some days). This boat is a bit slicy for a beginning kayaker, but once you get used to it, you're in for some excitement! Once I had my bomb-proof roll, I was ready for the biggest waves out there. The Jetty's at New Smyrna Beach, FL is my main surfing spot. It does not store any personal data. The Medieval is my first whitewater kayak, and I really do like it. Functional and specially made for HEMA, WMA and SCA combat, the armor is forged with 14 and 16 g steel and fully articulated for functional, comfort and usability in combat. Medieval armor also forms part of our collection. The HEMA swords are excellent for both Western Martial Arts (WMA), Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), and various stage combat. We also supply a line of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) swords with blunt edges, following the specs of the HEMA Alliance. Our Medieval weapons are sold either blunt for safety or sharp for cutting tests. Our swords are finely crafted in a traditional and authentic manner, as those of the middle ages. Through painstaking research and firsthand experience with antique medieval weapons, Darksword Armory has crafted truly functional medieval swords able to withstand the rigors of combat. This ultimately produces a sword that feels and looks as authentic as the originals – made as fully functional battle ready weapons. Our blade smiths individually handcraft each medieval sword using the traditional techniques of the middle ages (hammer and anvil) while remaining true to size, weight, and geometry.
